Lotto blocks

I have returned to doing Lotto blocks again. There is a button on the side, so please visit. This was this months block. They were really fun and easy. They only took 45 minutes to make all 3. The hardest part was choosing the colors.

I also finished a Patriotic Star swap that I did on About.com. It too was fun.

I will be getting back 16 blocks. I will put them in a box with all the other blocks I make for fun.

Round robin

I have been working on a round robin swap #2. If it doesn't get done quickly, I can always blame MaryJane. Here she is helping me, or at least trying to.
Here she is telling me to take a break.
I am 1/2 done sewing the blocks on a different quilt and she jumped up and laid on them, streaching out her front legs.
Got to love her.

Friday Night Sew In

Yes I did participate in the Friday night sew in. Yesterday I worked on one of my Mini quilt swaps. This one is for "Mini QT Swap". It is a Flickr swap group

The theme is Beach]Underwater. I made a Storm at Sea quilt because it reminds me of how I think of the beach.  I love watching storms on the Oregon coast.

The total size of the quilt is 8 inches. There are 145 pieces including the border. I paper pieced the mini.  I will be giving it away to my partner. I hope she likes it. Sorry the pictures are fuzzy. It was taken late at night.

Yes those are a Dime and a Quarter.

Wednesday

I didn't sew much today. Just 2 six inch Ohio Star blocks. I took Kat around Portland Oregon today. She took me to Cupcake Jones for a treat. It was a white chocolate marionberry cupcake. If you are ever in town, do stop in. They are delish!

Prairie Flowers quilt

This morning while looking at fellow bloggers sites, I was so tempted on starting new projects. I looked up and realized, Why am I starting a new one when I have a BEAUTIFUL one almost half done.

Years ago I started on an applique project. My criteria was
     1. The 18 inch background would be scrappy tan neutrals.
     2. ALL applique would only be scraps cut from the stash friends gave me.
     3. I would use bright colors.

I decided that instead of starting the new projects I would finish this one.
I am going to work on the one day a week, instead of a new project. It would also fit in with my scrap challenge, I would be "killing 2 birds with one stone"

I have 2 blocks prepped for the sewing stage and 5 with the backgrounds all sewn. Here are pictures of the 5 blocks I have finished and the book.

Wish me luck!

Scrappy projects

Here is some of my scrappy projects I worked on today.
The first is 3 1/2 inch crumbs and the 2nd and 3rd are my 6 inch string blocks.
MaryJane has to hide under the block.
I have over 130 crumb blocks with no plans for them.
I plan on making a set of string block every week at least.
As for MaryJane, well she will just be herself. My little girl who follows me everywhere.

July Sister's Quilt Show

I had a very good time with My oldest daughter Kartina at Sisters.

I also met friends from the internet
Carla and me
and Dorothy and me.

I couldn't have asked for a better day. The weather was great and I cherished the time I spent with Katrina. It is nice to put faces to names of people you talk to.

I add picture 1 now for picture 2. WHOOOO HOOOO!

July 6, 2010

I had a good "Private retreat" this weekend. Instead of finishing UFOs, I started a new project. I made 8" house blocks, 22 in one day and cut out the 8 that I needed. I only sewed 2 of them. I will finish the other 6 tonight. I was thinking of making them into a "Twist and Turn" quilt, sort of Dorothy's house in The Wizard of OZ. More on it later.

I will try to add pictures of the 22 house blocks. Wish me luck.

Today is July 3rd 2010. A new beginning to the next chapter of my life. I will keep it short and sweet, as all beginnings should be.
