OK. This is not the best picture of my Hexies, but it is all I have until I take more later.

Hexie flowers

They are 1 inch across from point to point, smaller than a quarter. Don't ask how big the diamonds and the triangles are all I know is they are tiny.  I am using the "English Paper piecing" method.  I don't know how big it will end up being so I will keep adding flowers on it until I get bored. It is so much more easier to make the flowers than it is to add them to the rest of the group.  I plan on making each flower from different blues fabric with out duplicating a print.
I am not doing that with the yellow and the white path is any white on white scrap that I can find.  It is amazing how small the triangles are. Now I feel guilty of throwing away some of my small scraps. (not really, if you saw how much I still have.)

I was inspired By Hetty's flowers that she does. You should check out her blog. I love it.

  1. These are beautiful, Mary! Love the idea of all blues. That reminds me that I have a red hexie quilt started somewhere. Must look for it. Thanks for linking to my blog. I think my hexies are a bit bigger than yours and I am not using triangles and diamonds. But is a good idea! This is what it is all about. Now I am being inspired by you!

    1. First of all, Thanks for reading my blog. My posting is whenever I can get to it.

I would love to see your hexies and if you need papers, I can send it to you or you can do what I did. I bought a paper punch from Creative Memories that has 2 sizes on one punch. I was told they are coming out with a new size. Bigger than my 1 and 1/2 inch dies.

      Good luck and again thanks.

      Mary K.

  3. Hi Mary K, I'm stopping by from Gayle's Blog Tag game. I love hexies too! Our guild once made a Grandmother's Flower garden queen size quilt using the English Paper Piecing method. It was a challenge to put together but it came out beautiful! I'm your newest follower, I'd love if you would come over and follow me too!
